Not unless you don't wanna do configurations and do programming instead, you could go to ABAP. It all comes to what your expertise and passion. Wish you all the best! God bless! ;) randysy

Over the years i have gained experience in Windows Server 2003, Vmware Esx 3.5 ( clustering, vcb, workstation), Linux, Aix , a little bit citrix, netbackup, security, Cisco CCNA etc. My role is 3rd line support & design in some aspects. I am hoping to make move into SAP. I have a BSC in computing, I have done programming in the past and i can pick that up again. and also a MSc in advanced computing. I have various reasons of changing my career path. Firstly its money, with family growing and more pressures in life, money rules this world so i would like to make more. Secondly SAP. because i have seen jobs (experienced) which pay well and there are many prospects in SAP, many paths, and i would like to specialize into 1 area eventually. But i need to start somewhere. & I really do not know where to start. Any help or advise is welcome. Looking at my skill set where would i fit in or where do i start. I would be grateful if someone can point me to the right direction or information i need to read. Regards | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N. But, another great point that you made that the pie is not getting bigger hence life won`t be easy. Take this with a pinch of salt and right spirit! All the best!

Everyone wants to do ABAP these days and the foot print of SAP just isn't growing that much... Neal | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N. For example, you should have worked with your current employer for at least 12 months and they need to give this in writing and you need to submit this to SAP for evaluation along with your resume; and also version (ECC 5 v/s 6) matters but not sure about EHP`s. This was true one year back when I gave my certification. If you have attended training none of these things matter! Reetesh

In fact, even prior SAP experience is not essential for certification. Enhancement packs are typically released annually. No one can keep up with this release cycle (in the sense that certifications renewal on an annual basis is not a feasible proposition). Besides each release has some added functionality that people may refer to the relevant document(s) and learn. Trust this clarifies. And that's a shame! Typically, the configuration side doesn't understand the strengths and weakness of the technical side the way we do... We could really vastly improve implementations by balancing the approach. On the Basis side however, there is a very large component in consulting that looks like a SAP Architect... Neal

Firstly thank you for taking your time and replying to me. I could certainly certify in SQL 2008 or so. I have the means to try and deploy and configure as required. i have looked into Basis and ABAP. Is there a stream where you could have a career as SAP architect, dealing with design/deploy/upgrade/etc. Netweaver ? Sorry for all these questions. | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N. Scottsdale Road Suite 280, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 | | R. N. Wilhite SAP Career Helper
